Compressly is a free image compression tool built around one simple belief: you should not have to upload your personal photos to a stranger's server just to make them smaller.
What we do
Compressly shrinks JPEG, PNG and WebP images directly in your web browser using standard, built-in browser technology (the HTML Canvas API). You can choose a quality level or a target file size, convert between formats, resize images by dimensions or percentage, strip EXIF metadata, and download individual files or everything together as a ZIP archive.
Why client-side matters
Traditional online compressors send your pictures across the internet to a backend server, where they are processed, sometimes stored, and then sent back. That uses bandwidth, takes time, and raises real privacy questions — especially for screenshots, ID photos, family pictures, or anything confidential. Because Compressly runs entirely on your own device, your images never leave your computer or phone. There is no upload, no account, and no server that could leak, lose, or inspect your files.
